The Belmond-Klemme esports team capped off a standout season by earning a state runner-up finish at the 2026 Winter Showdown in Class 1A Overwatch competition.
Competing against top programs from across Iowa, the Broncos battled their way through the bracket to secure second place at the state tournament. ELC claimed the Class 1A championship, while DNH finished third.
The state runner-up finish marks a significant accomplishment for the Belmond-Klemme program and highlights the continued growth of esports within the district. Representing the Broncos on the state stage were team members competing in Overwatch, a fast-paced, team-based strategy and action game that requires communication, coordination and quick decision-making.
